Now with the kiln complete it is time to start learning about it’s capabilities. This kilns design was inspired by a local potter Wayne Bates. I owe Wayne Bates and Craig Rhoades a huge thanks for their invaluable expertise and generosity. While Wayne and Craig both contributed to this kilns function, I also owe my father much gratitude for all of his engineering expertise and patience – knowing this kiln would not be the same without him.
The kiln is gas fired updraft, fiber lined with removable pins and washers, steel jacket, swinging door and removable roof. It fires to cone 6 – 10. Inside stacking space of 14 cubic feet.
